The new "Proper Ska" triple album is the brainchild and latest project of Des Bowyer, the founder and admin of the long running Facebook page "Fans of the Hotknives". Last year, Des worked along with Specialized Records to curate and compile the double Hotknives tribute covers album "Living On Dreams And Custard Creams" which has completely sold out but is still available on Bandcamp. To celebrate ten years of running the Hotknives fanpage, Des is releasing "Proper Ska", a monster triple CD containing 63 tracks from some of the best current bands on the ska scene. There are eleven countries represented on the album, with bands from England, Wales, Ireland, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Mexico, USA, Antigua and New Zealand.

The album's cover is designed by Steven Friel who was responsible for a great many albums during the ska explosion years from bands such as Bad Manners, The Deltones, The Trojans, The Loafers and all five volumes of the "Skankin' Round The World" series. The album is being mastered in the Netherlands by the very experienced engineer Remco "Faya" Korporaal who used to be Mr Review's sax man, has also played in The Skatalites and The Toasters before, and is currently fronting Amsterdam Faya Allstars.

The album is released by a brand new ska record label, Proper Ska Records, with all profits from this release going to the Specialized Project for their work with the Teenage Cancer Trust and Shekinah, a charity that works with the homeless.
