SKU: VPRL4108 OverviewDescription:
Back in stock is the Kevin
Metcalfe re-mastered dub classic from 1977 in the original picture
sleeve! - "African Dub Chapter Two" has 12 tracks of excellent dub
versions on riddims from the Treasure Isle and Studio One
Rocksteady-era, on "Hypocrites" (Bob Marley & The Wailers) and
on "Uptown Top Ranking" (Althea & Donna) with featured
musicians Carlton "Santa" Davis, Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace, George
"Fully" Fulwood, Tony Chin, Richard "Dirty Harry" Hall, Tommy
McCook, Bobby Ellis, plus Errol Thompson aka Errol T at the mixing
desk.
The Joe Gibbs "African Dub"
records are considered to be among the first and best dub albums
ever recorded. The series, recorded between 1972 and 1978 feature
the Joe Gibbs house band aka The Professionals. The innovation of
sound effects, echo and delay triggered by Gibbs and engineer Errol
Thompson (known as The Mighty Two) is what set the mold and created
the sub-genre. Chapter Two of the series is one of the proofs for
timeless musical popularity and iconic artwork.
